plus Kemp, Bull and Wright

Samuel Green, an English immigrant and a surveyor in Gloucester county, was married three times. His first wife, Margaret Kemp died before Green moved to Amwell Township in Hunterdon County. His second wife Sarah Bull was a member of the Bull family of Gloucester County. She died before Green moved to Sussex (Warren) County. His third wife, Hannah Wright, was the daughter of Dutch immigrants who settled in Amwell Township.

I have very little information on families that did not establish themselves in Hunterdon County. And please keep in mind, those of you who have worked hard on this family, I have not—I only know of them as they relate to my articles.

First Generation:

(1) Samuel Green (c.1675 – 1760)
m. 1) Margaret Kemp (c.1675 – c.1706), daughter of Edward Kemp, proprietor and surveyor
m. 2) Sarah Bull (c.1680 – c.1726), daughter of Thomas and Sarah Bull
m. 3) Hannah Annatie Wright (1716 – 1808), daughter of John (Jan) Wright (Reyt) and Orcha Bras

Second Generation:

(1) Samuel Green and Margaret Kemp

Johann Samuel Green, Jr. did not stay long in Amwell Township. He moved with his father to Sussex County in 1738, taking his daughter with him. The other children were born in Sussex, so their children will not be included in this tree.

Correction, 5/19/2018: I have changed the spouse of Rebecca Green, daughter of Samuel Green and Hannah Wright, to Francis Glover, based on information provided by their descendant, Deborah Glover. I had previously had a John Leffler as Rebecca’s spouse, but can find no justification for that.
