(This message was added in version 6.7.0.) in /home/goodspeedhist/public_html/wp-includes/functions.php on line 6114About a year ago, I started this blog with the idea that it would be a place where I could write about the history and genealogy that interested me, and that I would follow wherever my curiosity led me. That is exactly what has happened, and I have decided to keep doing it. However, there is more to be done here, so this post is an explanation for the plans I have.

First of all, I plan to archive the several articles I have written over the years in various places, like the newsletter for the Hunterdon Co. Historical Society; “The Bridge,” a newsletter for Delaware Township; “Friends Report” (newsletter for the Friends of the Locktown Stone Church), and other places. There are quite a few articles on a website called “The Delaware Township Post” that I would like to collect here too.

By doing this, I will be able to provide a location for people in my township to get information about their history, in a format that is searchable. Secondly it will give me a place to put future articles about the township as well as about Hunterdon County and the Province of West New Jersey.

Another project I would like to work on from time to time is to reprint the articles of Egbert T. Bush along with any supplemental information I can add. I consider Mr. Bush (who died eight years before I was born) a sort of mentor;  every time I read his articles, I learn more about how to write history. There are a lot of articles, and I doubt I will ever get close to posting all of them. But this is a great resource that should be available online. Actually, there are other Hunterdon historians that I may want to include in this section also, like Jonathan M. Hoppock and John Lequear.

So how to do this without setting up a fancy website (which I have no interest in at all)? I am trying to figure out how to use new pages on my blog, where I will begin posting some of my old articles. There’s going to be some trial and some more error before I get this all worked out. Apologies in advance for any confusion that is created.

I am looking forward to this new approach, and hope it is valuable to you too.

later–Hm. Turns out “Pages” aren’t quite what I had hoped. Need to find another way to collect published articles in one place.
