I grew up in New Hope, presently live in California. Doing a family search, I came up with the above, and what I needed to know about the Darnell family of which I am a part. I’d like to find out more regarding the early Quakers and the Darnell’s in England prior to coming to New Jersey. It’s unfortunate my parents died before the active advent of the internet, as they would have enjoyed discovering what little they knew about the family and how much has become available since. That’s for your website. Very informative and interesting.
I’d like to find 2 sources, one mentioned at the paws website: Taken From: “An Architectural and Historical Survey of the Darnell Homestead”by Dennis DeGregory – which I was unable to get any information from the park about, and Smith’s History of NJ.
Cordially,
Larry

Larry, I can’t give you any info on the Darnell Homestead book, but Smith’s History of NJ is a very standard work that should show up in most libraries, at least in NJ and PA. But you can also read it online by searching in Google Books. That’s probably the best way to do it since it’s so easy to search the contents. Good luck.

I am coming to Hunterdon Cty, NJ in early Aug to do research on the Large family, who moved to Hunterdon County in the late 1600’s early 1700’s. Can you suggest libraries or cemeteries I could visit.
Thanks,
William Large

The first stop for any researcher working on the Large family has to be the Hunterdon Co. Historical Society on Main Street, Flemington. Go to their website (you’ll find the link on the right) and give them a call to set up a time so you can be sure of getting some special attention. This is always advisable when you’re coming from a distance. While you’re there you can check out the beautiful, though terribly dilapidated, Large mansion across the street. You’ll be able to decide on other places to visit based on what you find at the HCHS. Good luck.

Do you have an email address for the William Large, who wrote to you back in 2012? When I was a child, living in Lambertville, I lived next door to a William Large and his dear wife Mabel Martindell Large. I know nothing of their family, to date!
