The Myers family from Germany was prominent in old Amwell Township, Hunterdon County for several generations. But people were not careful about how they spelled the name. It could be Myers, Myres, Mires, Meyers or anything else they could think of.
Johannes Meyer of Alstadt, Germany and wife Anna Catharina Ahrfeller married on January 29, 1721, according to Henry Z. Jones in his book More Palatine Families (p. 469). They came to America with their children and joined with other German Baptists in Hunterdon County to create the German Reformed Church of Amwell.
Of their two sons, Johannes and Gerhard, it is Johannes who established himself in Amwell Township with his wife Catharine and raised the family below.
As with all family trees on Goodspeed Histories, the daughters are listed with husbands and children, but not with grandchildren. Also, I try to highlight in green the families that also have published trees on this website. And of course, there are certain to be mistakes and omissions, and I am happy to hear from readers who can fill in the blanks or make corrections.

I am delighted to know that, since I feel sure there are mistakes somewhere on this tree.

William E. Haver’s dates are 1840–1920. His obit states: “PITTSTOWN. Wm. E. Haver, living near Pittstown, who has been ill and complaining for some time, died on Saturday, Dec. 25. Mr. Haver was born near Pittstown on July 2, 1840 and has always lived in this neighborhood. His wife, who died several years ago, was Miss Amy E. Davenport. Of this marriage eleven children were born. Ellsworth, the first child, died at the age of four years and was the first interment in the Locust Grove cemetery at Quakertown. Ten children survive as follows: Mrs. Augustus Hoff, of Bloomsbury; Mrs. G. W. Bonnell, Mt. Pleasant; Misses Julia and Elmeda, who live at home; Grant Haver, Cherryville; John B. Haver, Pittstown; Harry W. Haver, Quakertown; Morris S. Haver, of near Pittstown, Clarence Haver, who lives at home, and Wm. Edgar Haver, of Newark. Mr. Haver’s death was due to paralysis of the brain. Funeral services will be held on Thursday Dec. 30, at 11:30 a.m. at the Quakertown M. E. Church, conducted by the Rev. F. S. Benson. Interment in Locust Grove cemetery at Quakertown, under direction of G. W. Hummer, of Frenchtown.” [The Frenchtown Star, Wed., 29 December 1920, p. 1.]

John Thatcher Eick was buried in Frenchtown Cemetery with dates 1840–1915. His wife, Elizabeth Chamberlain Eick, was buried with him with dates 1845–1918. I don’t have obituaries for them.

My goodness, so much more in relationships to go through for my Myers. Thank you for publishing. What family are you interested in next from Anna Myers Cain connections?

Hi Ruth, I’m afraid I don’t plan that much. I really do not work the way a family genealogist does. Instead, I keep track of people I come across when studying who lived where, and their families, because families so often inherit land. I have done work on the Cain family, so I have the beginnings of a tree for them. One of these days I’ll publish it. Sorry not to be more specific. But since you enquired, I’ll move it up the list.

Hi Marfy,
I have come across a cousin down the Myers line and she is working to see where her Jacob Myers comes from. She had him down the line with his father being Cornelius and then found in the State Archives that his death in 1850 recorded Bertus Myers as his father (Albertus we assume).
Also, I have Mary Polly Myers married to both John A., son of Albertus ‘n Anna Hahn but also I have Mary Polly mar. to Jacob Myers, son of Cornelius ‘n Elizabeth Ukn.
When you published the Myers tree, did you use any of the info that I’d sent to you OR were you working down the line on your own information?
Thank you for any help here and greatly appreciated,

Hi Ruth, I believe I was working on my own, but with your information incorporated. However, it looks like I need to take another look at the Myers tree. I know they can be confusing.
