The Opdycke family emigrated to America from Holland in the 17th century, settling at Gravesend in Kings County, New York. They certainly prospered in their new home and multiplied extensively. Consequently, there are many many Opdycke descendants, and also an extensive published genealogy. Because it is such a large family, I have not been able to research it as thoroughly as some others.
First Generation:
(1) Albert Opdycke (1685 Р1752) & Elizabeth (c.1690 – c.1761)
Albert Opdycke was the son of Johannes Laureitzen Opdycke (1651 – 1729) & Tryntie Catherine (~1653 – 1728) came to Hopewell Township from Queens, New York. The parents of the couple came to America from Holland, as their names clearly show. The Opdycke family was extensive. Johannes and Tryntie had eight children, and succeeding generations were equally productive. In fact this is one of the longest family trees I have published.
Although Albert and Elizabeth resided in Maidenhead and Hopewell Townships, some of their children settled in today’s Hunterdon Co. And since it is the Hunterdon residents I am most interested in, I am naming Albert as the treetop.
As with all my published trees, children of daughters are included, grandchildren are not. Surnames of spouses whose families are published here are highlighted in green. Additions and corrections are welcome in the comments section at the end of the article or by email.

Thank you again for another useful family tree. I just wanted to add some information in case one of your readers is interested in the Queen family:
(5.2) John Bellis Opdyke & 1) Ann Nancy Roberson
| (6.1) Samuel Opdyke (1832 – ) & Mary Ann Quinn (c.1835 – )
In the Opdycke tree, as above, you have listed Mary Ann Quinn. She is my 3rd great-grandaunt. The family actually used the spelling Queen. Mary Ann was the daughter of Thomas Queen (1808-bef. 1880) and Anna Petty (1806-1885) and sister of Jonathan P. Queen (1834 – 1906) who was my 3rd great-grandfather. I don’t believe Samuel and Mary Ann had any children as she seems to have had some serious mental health issues and lived in the NJ State Lunatic Asylum for various periods of time. I believe the Queen family were Scots-Irish immigrants from Ulster originally immigrating to Philadelphia in about 1802. The immigrants to the U.S. were Mary Ann’s grandfather Allan Queen (who’s second wife was Eleanor Rockfellar which is how the family came to be in Hunterdon County) and Allan’s father Thomas Queen. If anyone reading this has interest in or links to the Queen family in NJ or PA (near NJ border) please do contact me at crounsaville@hotmail.com.
Thanks, Cheryl. I have updated the tree, changing Quinn to Queen. I thought that Henry & Lydia Queen of Alexandria Township might have been the parents of Thomas. Apparently not. Do you know how they fit in? (Henry an Irish immigrant; Lydia b. c.1787 PA)
