First Generation:
(1) Emanuel Coryell (1706 – 1749) & Sarah Tunison (1706 – )
The Somerset Quarterly published “Earliest American Ancestors of Somerset Families” in Vol. V p.188 et seq, which included this statement:¬† “Elias, Emanuel (or John Emanuel) and David Coriell, perhaps with another brother Abraham, emigrated from the island of Corsica in 1663, and were French. Emanuel went to Lambertville and operated a ferry there in 1733.
Clearly there is a problem here. The Emanuel who emigrated in 1663 must be a father or grandfather of the Emanuel who settled in Amwell and started a ferry in 1733.
Sarah Tunison was the daughter of Cornelis Tunison (1652-1731) and Nelltje Bogart (1660-1740). As is my usual practice, I include here the children of daughters but not their grandchildren. Spouses whose families have family trees published on this website have their surnames highlighted in green.
I have not done a lot of research on this family, so there are many loose threads and missing branches. Please feel free to make corrections or additions in the comments section.
Second Generation:
(1) Emanuel Coryell & Sarah Tunison of Amwell Township
|   (2.1) Maj. John Coryell (1730 Р1799) & Elizabeth Harvey (1730 Р1799), d/o Thomas & Tamor Harvey. He soon moved to Solebury where he ran the ferry on the Pennsylvania side of the river, and in 1774 got a tavern license there. Eventually he and Elizabeth moved to Independence Twp. in Sussex Co.
|   (2.2) Cornelius Coryell (1732 Р1824) & Sarah Sally Shaw (c.1735 Р1830). This couple remained in Amwell Township, on their farm on Goat Hill overlooking Coryell’s Ferry.
|   (2.3) Capt. George Coryell (1734 Р1813), active in the Revolution, lifelong resident of Coryell’s Ferry.
|   |   |   & Eleanor Pidcock (c.1735 – after 1772), unmarried
|   |   |   m. 1) Frances Cadwell (c.1740 -  ) I wonder if there is a possible confusion with Frances Caldwell (2.1-3.1 below).

Some trees consider Abraham Moses Coriell (1738-1828) of Middlesex County, married to Esther Heath (1738-1796) to be the same as Abraham Coryell of Coryell’s Ferry, Hunterdon.
|   (2.5) Sarah Coryell (1743 Р1821)

Footnote:
- There is some confusion over the two Mary Moores, daughters of Cornelius and Abraham Coryell. Consensus at the moment seems to be that the daughter of Abraham is the one who married Capt. Moses Moore. ↩
