The Lawshe family came to America from Rheinland-Pfalz in Germany. Abraham von Laaschet was born in Creyfeldt, Prussia. (The name was Anglicized to Lawshe.) He married Margaret Bechelsheimer, daughter of Elder John Bechelsheimer, minister to the fledging German Baptist congregation in Amwell Township. The Lawshes appear in connection with the church several times in the book A History of East Amwell, 1700-1800.
Because many of the Lawshe descendants moved away from Hunterdon County, there are many gaps in this tree. It is especially deficient when it comes to the fifth generation.
Keep in mind that I list the children of daughters, but not their grandchildren. And additions and corrections are welcome. Please add them to the Comments section below.

Footnotes:
- John Garrison Lawshe died age 28. Soon after his wife married 2d, Wm I. Cole of Franklin Twp. She and her sons Joseph and Samuel were counted with Cole in the 1860 census, the sons keeping the name Lawshe. But I have trouble sorting out Cole and Kuhl, names that were sometimes used interchangeably. ↩

Hi Marfy, Regarding “Elder John Bechelsheimer, minister to the fledging German Baptist congregation in Amwell Township,” do you know if the family of Johannes Albertus Myers was associated with that church?

Hi Susan, I can’t really answer that with certainty, but I suspect that he became a member of the Kingwood Baptist congregation. It would be nice if there were a list of members of both churches to consult, but I don’t know of one. Perhaps at the H.C. Historical Society.

Hello Marfy, I have been researching the UK Staffordshire HEATH’s for years now. I wanted to compliment you for an excellent site which has brought some, (previously inexplicable) information & names completely to life. I currently manage a freebie Tribalpages tree & have quoted your site address liberally on any info that I’ve used to date. Thanks very much for a good effort which clearly must have taken an awful lot of hard work & I’m enjoying reading all the history inbetween. If it makes you feel any better, the UK Staffordshire HEATH’s are just as complicated & intermarried with equally huge families..!

Thank you, Mark. Your words are much appreciated. Actually, I have considered writing more on the first (in Hunterdon) Andrew, but I just never know where I’m going next. However, he’s on the list.
